Hi, readers of Islam Peace Love blog! I feel happy to greet you all again on this blog. Previously I want to apologize, because I can not post on this blog for a long time. In some time back I was preoccupied with obligations on campus. And, this is the first time I have time to greet the reader again. Again, I apologize profusely.
OK! At this time I will invite the reader to talk about how should the religion of Islam be taught?
I think the above question is very important for us to answer because in many cases Islam is often misunderstood by many people. I personally judge, that the wrong understanding is caused, at least, by two things;
1. Non-objective understanding of the religion of Islam;
2. The number of people who claim to be Muslims but to practice and advocate everything that is against the teachings of Islam. This kind of Islamic phenomenon is then regarded as an Islamic translation; that, that’s what Islam is.
Understanding two things as above I think is very important. That is because the status of Islam as a religion that brings peace mission will not be able to understand and encounter in real life before we can distinguish what is original and what is not. The logic is very simple, there is a huge difference between us and understanding of us, between red color and understanding of red color, between sweetness and understanding of sweetness, and so on. Not an easy thing, indeed. I personally admit it.
One example that we can prove for that is the word of Allah Almighty in the letter of Thaahaa verses 43-44;
Go both to Pharaoh, surely, he has become inordinate Then speak to him a gentle word haply he may mind or fear . (Thahaa ; 43-44).
The two verses of the Qur’an above tell us that Allah Almighty has commanded the prophet Moses. and his brother to go to see Pharaoh who has done arbitrarily, beyond the limit. Here I will not invite readers to talk about the Pharaoh and all the arbitrariness that has been done. I think the talk about it has been understood, let alone here is not the place. But what I want to say to the readers is that even though Pharaoh was arbitrary, even in his lifetime he had confessed to be God, but Allah Almighty. still commanded the prophet Moses to teach religious teachings in a good way. The goal is none other than that he can be aware and afraid of Allah Almighty.
Examples of Islamic religious law in a peaceful way we can see in the Ali ‘Imraan verse 159. Allah Almighty say;
“Thus it is due to mercy from Allah that you deal with them gently, and had you been rough, hard hearted, they would certainly have dispersed from around you; pardon them therefore and ask pardon for them, and take counsel with them in the affair; so when you have decided, then place your trust in Allah; surely Allah loves those who trust.” (Ali ‘Imraan ;159).
To be honest, as short as I know, there is a difference of opinion about why the above verse above was realaved. There is a group of people who say that the verse relates to how to respond to the prisoners of war Badr. But there is also a group of people who say that it is related to the defeat of the post-war Uhud Islamic army. But the ideal meaning of the above verse, at least in my opinion, after comparing some of the opinions I have encountered, is that the above verse is general, although in the dialect of conversation, the one who is commanded is the prophet Muhammad. (Ibnu Katsir, Tafsir Ibnu Katsir, surah Ali ‘Imraan ayah 159).
Now, by looking at the two examples above, if we are increasingly convinced that the teachings of Islam should be propagated in a peaceful, loving way. In fact, not a few people think that love is able to melt frozen hearts.
One other practical example of the obligation to convey the teachings of Islam in a peaceful way we can see the decisions of Umar bin Khattab when not enforcing the hand cut punishment. The decision began when a wealthy merchant complained to the Umar bin Khattab because of some workers who stole some of his property. But after the problems were weighed from various aspects it was decided that the workers could not be punished, because they committed the theft because the salary that should have been theirs was not paid, let alone the stolen property was the property of their mistreated master. (https://al-maktaba.org/book/31886/18581, http://majles.alukah.net/t35874/.)
Of course, the decision of Umar bin Khattab is already very precise, because the decision has been through consideration of justice. That’s because if he only paid attention to the texts of Islam, then surely those who are tyrannized will get more and more tyrannized. That’s for sure. As a consideration we can see the tight law of hand cut for a thief, like the word of Allah Almighty in the Qur’an;
38. And (as for) the man who steals and the woman who steals, cut off their hands as a punishment for what they have earned, an exemplary punishment from Allah; and Allah is Mighty, Wise. (Al-Maa’idah ; 38).
Prophet Muhammad also often say about the harvest and the thief;
“The hand (thief) is cut when the stolen property reaches a quarter of a dinar or more.” (The hadith is narrated by imam al-Bukhari, Kitâbul al-Hudûd, 6291).
“Allah cursed the thief who stole an egg and then cut off his hand, as well as stole the rope and cut his hand.” (The hadith is narrated by imam al-Bukhari, Kitâbul al-Hudûd, 6783).
“Remember that the prohibition is four: (1) do not shirk Allah with anything, (2) do not kill the soul that God forbid, (3) do not commit adultery, (4) do not steal.” ( The hadith is narrated by imam Ahmad 4: 339, and imam Thabrani 6316-6317).
Actually, there are many practical examples of the teachings of Islam besides the law of hand cutting which must be understood and implemented by considering many aspects. The goal is none other than that for the grace of the universe which is the ultimate goal of the descent of this religion does not become obscure and understandable as it should be. In fact, for me, the duty of preventing a person from committing munkar (ugliness) should be done in a good way.
Reigns to the good and forbids the doing of munkar (ugliness)
Reigns to the good and forbids the doing of munkar (ugliness) in a good way.
I think a bit of the above reviews we can make as a proof to say and believe, that Islam is a religion that teaches peace in a peaceful way, except conditions that require to resort to other ways.
I think enough here for this article. In the following articles I will try to present other writings about the peace mission brought by Islam.
