The Meaning of Surah Al-Kausar; A Best Explanation

The Meaning of Surah Al-Kausar ~ Hi all readers! Do you know what surah al-Kausar is? That is one of the suras in the Quran. In general, the surah explained the enormous pleasure Allah had given the Prophet Muhammad. As Muslims we must know that, especially about its meaning. That’s why I wrote this article. And, you must read this article to the end!

Before I explain more about the meaning of surah al-Kausar, I want to explain, that the surah is also referred to as “surah an-Nahr”. Allah had sent the surah before the Prophet Muhammad migrated to Medina. That is why it is referred to as the Makiyah. The Surah has three verses, ten sentences and forty letters. So, the surah is very easy to memorize, insha Allah.

The editors of Sura al-Kausar are as follows;

Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kasthar [1] So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone] [2] Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off [3]. (Al-Kausar [108]; 1-3).

(إِنَّآ أَعۡطۡيۡنَٰكَ) The point is, “Indeed, We have given you, O Messenger of the most noble of Allah.” In the sentence above there is the word “We”. The point is, that in the process Allah has involved other parties; the angels of Allah (or maybe only one angel [only Allah knows about it]).

(ٱلۡكَوۡثَرَ) There is a difference of opinion about what al-Kausar is. The first opinion explains that it is a lake in Heaven. Allah has given the lake to the Prophet Muhammad as a favor for him. I need to explain here, that in the Hereafter all the people of the Prophet Muhammad will drink the lake water. Hopefully we include his people so we can drink the lake water. Amen The second opinion explains that what is meant by al-Kausar is very much good.

(فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ) The point is, “Do prayers, O Messenger of Allah’s most noble, with the aim only to hope for the pleasure of Allah, not others.”

(وَٱنۡحَرۡ) I find there are differences of opinion about the meaning of the word. The first opinion explains, that the meaning of the word is, “Give up animals on the day of an-Nahr (Eid al-Adhah).” The second opinion explains that the meaning of the word is, “Turn to Qiblah (when you will and are praying).” The third opinion explains that the meaning of the word is the upper part of the chest.

(إِنَّ شَانِئَكِئَ) The point is, “Surely the person who hates you.” About us still remember that the Prophet Muhammad faced a very big problem from the majority of the people in Makkah when he spread Islam there. Lots of people who hate him, threaten him and his friends, and so forth. But one reference to the interpretation of the Quran explains that the person in question is this verse is Ash bin Wail.

(هُوَ ٱلۡأَبۡتَرُ) The point is, that those who hate the Prophet Muhammad are those who are cut off from all goodness.

All Readers! That is a brief explanation of the meaning of surah al-Kausar. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!

I think that’s enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
