Stomach Ache; Does It Break Wudu?

Hi all readers! I guess everyone has had a stomach ache. That is an event that is often experienced by someone. Usually the person experiences the incident because they want to defecate or because their stomach is too full. When a person experiences that condition, he usually does not know for sure whether he is farting or not. The question is whether such conditions can break wudu?

Okay! Straight to!

As usual, before answering the question above, I will first cite one hadith which is specifically related to our discussion. The hadith I mean is as follows;

From Abu Hurairah radliyallahu ‘anhu, he said, “Messenger of Allah sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “If one of you finds something in his stomach, then he doubts whether something has come out of him or not? So, he can’t leave the mosque until he hears a sound or sniffs a smell.” The hadith is narrated by Muslim.

All Readers! Before I explain a few points related to the hadith above, first I want to say that in the teachings of Islam doubt can not give any legal influence. All must be decided based on faith, such as listening and smell.

There are a number of things we must know about the hadith above;

First; The hadith gives an example of the ethics of conveying something bad. In this hadith the Prophet Muhammad did not mention farting and farting directly. To mention these two things, he uses the word diction which can represent both; sound and smell.

Second; Fart can break ablution (wudu).

Third; The law of origin of a case is the permanent existence of the case in its condition unless it is believed that the condition has changed.

Fourth; Chastity cannot be lost on suspicion. There must be an explanation of the cause of the loss of sanctity. This is a rule of thumb, “Belief cannot be removed with doubt.”

After observing the brief explanation above, we now know the Islamic view of this issue. If one day our stomachs mules, we have to make sure first, do we hear farts or smell fart?! That’s very important! Because without that we will doubt whether our time is canceled or not. If it is clear, for example, there is a farting sound that we hear, or our nose sniffs fart, then we can make sure our wudu is canceled. But if we doubt that, then based on the hadith above, we are still in a sacred condition; our wudu is not braked.

Now, do you understand? The problem is simple and the explanation that I have say is clear. So, I hope you understand. But if you don’t understand, please ask!

I think that’s enough discussion about the legal status of stomach ache; whether it can damage wudu or not. May be useful! Amen!
