Scales of Charity Actions (Al-Mizaan) on Judgment Day

Hi all readers! In this article I will explain the scales (al-Miizaan) that will be used to weigh the actions we have done as long as we live in the world. Thus, the scales will also be used to determine whether we have the right to enter Heaven or Hell. All our actions will be weighed in Mahsyar later. As a Muslim we really need to know that the discussion about this is very important, because it is related to the Day of Judgment that we must believe. The correct knowledge of scales (al-Mizaan) will add to the quality of our faith.
In the previous article we already knew, that in the future all the people will be gathered in one place to account for all the things they have done while living in the world. In addition, they will also be weighed to determine whether they are worthy of entering Heaven or Hell. We can see the information about the scales (al-Mizaan) in several verses of the Qur’an and the hadith of the prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam below;
And We will set up a just balance on the day of resurrection, so no soul shall be dealt with unjustly in the least; and though there be the weight of a grain of mustard seed, (yet) will We bring it, and sufficient are We to take account. (Al-Anbiyaa’ [21]; 47).
These are they who disbelieve in the communications of their Lord and His meeting, so their deeds become null, and therefore We will not set up a balance for them on the day of resurrection. (Al-Khafi [18]; 105).
Then as for him whose measure of good deeds is heavy [6] He shall live a pleasant life [7] And as for him whose measure of good deeds is light [8] His abode shall be the abyss [9]. (Al-Qaari’ah [101]; 6-9).
The Messengger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “There are two sentences favored by the Essence of the Most Merciful (Ta’la Allah), which are lightly spoken in oral, but the weight on the scales (al-Miizaan) is سبحان الله وبحمده سبحان الله العظيم ( Subhaanallaah wa bi Hamdihi Subhaanallaahil Á dhiim / Most Holy Allah with all His praise and Most Holy Allah the One who is the Supreme).” (The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari, 7563, and Imam Muslim, 2694.
From Ibn Mas’ud radliyallaahu ánhu, that (one day) he wanted to take a branch of a tree to mate. (Suddenly) the wind blows causing his clothes to be revealed. People then laughed. The Prophet (Muhammad) the sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam then said, “What makes you laugh?” They replied, “O Prophet of Allah, from the midst of the steps of his two legs.” He then said, “For the sake of the One whose soul is in His power, the two legs weighed more in al-Mizaan (scales on Judgment Day at Mahsyar) than on Mount Uhud.” (This hadith is narrated by Ahmad, 1 / 420-421.).
The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “Surely Allah will choose someone from my people on the heads of all beings on the Day of Judgment. Then he will spread to him ninety-nine books of records. Each notebook is as long as the eye can see.” Then He (Allah) said, “Do you deny something from this record? Is my angel who wrote your charity zealous for you?” The person then said, “No, my Lord.” Allah then said, “Do you have any reason or kindness?” Allah then said, “Yes, indeed you have one kindness on Our side. There is no tyranny that will come to you today.” Then came a card for him that read, “I testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.” Then the notebooks were placed in one section and the card was in other parts. He then said, “It turned out the books were light and the card became heavy. There is not the slightest immorality that becomes heavy if weighed together with the writings of بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم (by mentioning the name of Allah who is Merciful, Most Merciful).” (This hadith is narrated by Ahmad, 2/213, at-Tirmidzi, 5/24-25, 2639, al-Hakim, 1/6, 529.
Actually, there are still many verses of the Qur’an and hadith which explain the scales (al-Miizaan). But what I have said above is enough to be used as basic knowledge.
Here, if we understand the description above, then at least we can deduce a number of things as below;
1. The existence of scales (al-Miizan) to measure whether we deserve to enter Heaven or Hell is true.
2. No one will be harmed at that time, because everyone will get a reward for what they have done while living in the world.
3. No matter how small the form of goodness will get a reward, so too with evil.
4. People who do not believe in Doomsday will not receive any judgment. All the good they have done in the world is immediately removed. Thus, they must enter Hell.
5. People whose scales of goodness are heavy will get pleasure in Heaven, while people whose scales of mildness will get torment in Hell.
(Subhaanallaah wa bi Hamdihi Subhaanallaahil ‘Adhiim / Most Holy Allah with all His praise and Most Holy Allah the Supreme) is two sentences weighing on the scales (al-Miizaan) later. Prophet Muhammad SAW. encourage us to reproduce the two sentences. Things that will be weighed in Mahsyar later.
7. In addition to the two sentences that I mentioned in point number six, things that can aggravate good actions on the scales (al-Miizaan) on the Day of Judgment are testimony, that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, as well as recitation of dhikr.
Now, we can conclude, that some of the things that will be weighed in Mahsyar later are;
1. All actions
2. The books that contain all actions.
3. The man himself.
That is a brief explanation of the deeds of charity (al-Mizaan) on the Day of Judgment. Hopefully we are among those whose deeds are heavy on the scales (al-Mizaan). Hopefully this article is useful! Amen!
See you again in the next article!
