The Meaning of Surah Al-Maun ~ Hi all readers! Al-Maun is one of the suras in the Quran. In general, the surah describes people who reject religion or those who do not believe in the teachings of Islam. Of course, as Muslims, we must know the meaning of the surah. That’s why I wrote this article. So, you have to read it to the end.
But, before I explain the meaning of surah al-Maun further, I want to say that the surah is Makiyah or Madaniyah. The point is, that Muslim scholars disagree about that. In the surah, there are seven fathers, twenty-five sentences, and one hundred twenty-three letters.
The surah al-Maun I mean is as follows;
Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense? For that is the one who drives away the orphan And does not encourage the feeding of the poor So, woe to those who pray [But] who are heedless of their prayers Those who make shows [of their deeds] And withhold [simple] assistance . (Al-Maun ; 1-7).
The Meaning of Surah Al-Maun
(أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ) The point is, “Do you see people who deny religion or religious teachings, O Muhammad?” There are differences of opinion about who is meant by those who deny religion in this surah. Some say that the person is Ash bin Wail. Some say that he is Walid bin Mughirah. But there are also those who say that he is Abu Sufyan. At that time one of the three people slaughtered an animal. Then came the orphans to ask for meat. But the person drove the orphan away with a stick.
The point is, that people who deny religion are those who expel orphans in a rude manner so that the orphans do not get their rights.
The point is, that besides that, people who reject religion are people who do not feed the poor, even though they are able to do that.
The point is, the intention is that those who forget the prayer are those who will get torture.
The point is, that they are hypocrites. They pray when someone else sees it. But they do not pray when no one else sees it.
The point is, that they are also people who do not help others with useful items, such as not paying zakat, making it difficult for others who need help, and so on.
All Readers! That is a brief explanation of the meaning of surah al-Maun. Do you understand? If you want to ask, please ask!
I think that’s enough for this article. May be useful. Amen!
