The Meaning of Surah Al-Asr

The Meaning of Surah Al-Asr ~ Hi all readers! Al-Asr is one of the names of the surah in the Quran. In general, the surah explains the oath of Allah that all human beings are at a disadvantage, except for a few people. Of course, as Muslims, we must know that. That’s why I wrote this article. So, you have to read it to the end!

Before I explain the meaning of surah al-Asr further, I want to say that it is Makiyah. That is, Allah revealed the surah to the Prophet Muhammad before he moved to Medina. In the surah, there are three verses, fourteen sentences, and sixty-eight letters.

Surah Al-Asr

The surah al-Asr is as follows;

وَٱلۡعَصۡرِ ١ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَفِي خُسۡرٍ ٢ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ ٣

By time [1] Indeed, mankind is in loss [2] Except for those who have believed and done right deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience [3]. (Al-Asr [103]; 1-3).

The Meaning of Surah Al-Asr

(وَٱلۡعَصۡرِ) The point is, that at the beginning of this surah Allah swears by mentioning time. That is because there are many hidden things in this period, such as happiness, sadness, health, illness, and so on.

(إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَفِي خُسۡرٍ) The point is that humans are at a disadvantage at the end of their journey and at the end of their age.

(إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ) The point is, except for those who believe and do good, because they have done trades that will never lose.

(وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلۡحَقِّ) The point is, that they are people who remind each other in goodness, with knowledge and deeds.

(وَتَوَاصَوۡاْ بِٱلصَّبۡرِ) The point is, that they also remind each other to be patient in doing all the obligations that Allah has given them, and be patient in avoiding all restrictions that Allah has given them.
