Life in the Grave; An Interesting Story

Hi all readers! In some of the previous articles I have explained many things about death and what will happen after someone dies. In this article I will explain life in the grave. As Muslims we must know about it so that we can prepare anything that will be needed later.

Okay! Straight to!

Abdurrahim bin Ahmad al-Qadli said in Daqqa’iqul Akhbaar fii Dzikri al-Jannati wa an-Naar, that one day Abu Qilabah radliyallahu ‘anhu dreamed that the grave was split and people who had died came out and dudu on the edge of the grave. In everyone’s hand has a container made of light, except for only one person who does not have it. Abu Qilabah then asked the person, “Why don’t I see the light between your hands?” The person answered, “Surely they have children and friends who give them merit and give alms to them. This light is a reward that is given to them. I have children who are not good, do not pray for me, and do not give alms to me. That’s why I have no light. I am ashamed of all my neighbors. “

When Abu Qilabah awoke from sleep, he called out to the boy and told him about what he had seen in a dream. The child then repents and promises that he will not repeat all the bad deeds he has done. After some time later, Abu Qilabah dreamed again. He saw the grave as before. But what is different is that he sees a person who previously did not have light between his hands, now he has light that is brighter than sunlight and more radiant than the lights of others. The person then said, “O Abu Qilabah, may Allah give me goodness! Truly I have survived the shame of my neighbors.”

All Readers! If we understand the brief story of life in the grave above, then surely, we know that people who have died still need help from people who are still alive. The assistance is in the form of good deeds which are rewarded for him. In other words, the fate of people who have died is determined by the virtues they have, both the good things that come from their own repairs or from others.

That is a brief explanation of life in the grave. Hopefully the Islamic story will be useful and we can prepare ourselves for it.
