Islamic Tolerance for Muslims in Carrying Out Their Teachings

Hi all readers! In this article I will present a brief discussion about the toleration of Islam for Muslims. We need to believe that Islam comes as a blessing for the universe. This grace cannot be understood by trying to please everyone. Not like that understanding. But as one way to realize happiness and share in the universe, both in the world and in the hereafter.
In the process of realizing that there are several things that must be done and abandoned by Muslims. For example, Islam requires followers to pray, pay alms, fast, go on hajj, forgive, give charity, and so on. We must be sure, that in carrying out all these obligations is for those who are capable. That we can see in some verses of the Qur’an and the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad below;
And strive hard in (the way of) Allah, (such) a striving a is due to Him; He has chosen you and has not laid upon you an hardship in religion; the faith of your father Ibrahim; He named you Muslims before and in this, that the Messenger may be a bearer of witness to you, and you may be bearers of witness to the people; therefore keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and hold fast by Allah; He is your Guardian; how excellent the Guardian and how excellent the Helper! (al-Hajj [22]; 78).
Therefore be careful of (your duty to) Allah as much as you can, and hear and obey and spend, it is better for your souls; and whoever is saved from the greediness of his soul, these it is that are the successful. (at-Taghaabun [64]; 16).
Allah does not impose upon any soul a duty but to the extent of its ability; for it is (the benefit of) what it has earned and upon it (the evil of) what it has wrought: Our Lord! do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake; Our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us, Our Lord do not impose upon us that which we have not the strength to bear; and pardon us and grant us protection and have mercy on us, Thou art our Patron, so help us against the unbelieving people. (Al-Baqarah [2]; 286).
O you who believe! when you rise up to prayer, wash your faces and your hands as far as the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles; and if you are under an obligation to perform a total ablution, then wash (yourselves) and if you are sick or on a journey, or one of you come from the privy, or you have touched the women, and you cannot find water, betake yourselves to pure earth and wipe your faces and your hands therewith, Allah does not desire to put on you any difficulty, but He wishes to purify you and that He may complete His favor on you, so that you may be grateful. (Al-Maa’idah [5]; 6).
From Aisha radliyallâhu ‘anhaa, from the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi sa wasallam, that he said, “Make it easy and don’t make it difficult!” (The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari number 69 and Muslim number 1734).
From Abu Hurairah radliyallaahu ‘anhu, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “Surely this religion is easy…” (The hadith narrated by al-Bukhari number 39 and Muslim number 1337).
Actually, there are still many verses of the Qur’an and the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad which explain the tolerance of Islam to its adherents, but what I have said above is able to conclude many things including the following;
1. There is no compulsion in carrying out Islamic teachings.
2. A Muslim who is indeed unable to carry out obligations must not force himself to carry out that obligation.
3. Advice issued to the general public should not burden them.
I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
See you again in the next article!
