If in some of the previous articles I have explained about Islamic baby girl name and the meaning, then in this article I will explain about Islamic names for baby boys from the Quran and their meanings. Quran, in addition to being a holy book for Muslims, is also a book that contains a lot of knowledge about the history of ancient people.

That's why there are so many names inside. Of course, not all names in the Quran are good names, some of them are bad names, like Abu Lahab. But in it, there are also lots of good names that can be used as names for baby boys.

Of course, I will not explain all the names in the Quran. In this article, I will only explain four names. The names I mean are Abdullah, Muhammad, Ulin Nuha, Ulul Albab or Ulul Albab.

Islamic Baby Boy Name from Quran and the Meaning

Abdullah (عَبْدُ اللهِ)

In Arabic, the meaning of Kaliamat "Abdullah" is a servant of Allah. The name is used for men. The "servant of God" who explains the figure of a woman is "Amatullah (أَمَةُ اللهِ)." In Islamic history, "Abdullah" also became the name of the father of the Prophet Muhammad.

We can find the phrase "Abdullah" in the Qur'anic verse as follows;

قَالَ إِنِّي عَبۡدُ ٱللَّهِ ءَاتَىٰنِيَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَجَعَلَنِي نَبِيّٗا ٣٠

[Isa] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. (Maryam [19]; 30).

Muhammad (مُحَمَّدٌ)

In Arabic, the meaning of the word "Muhammad" is a praiseworthy person. That is also the name of our Prophet; Prophet Muhammad. He, on earth, was called "Muhammad". While in the sky he is called "Ahmad (أَحْمَدُ)".

In the Quran there are many verses that include the word "Muhammad". Some of the verses are as follows;

مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَآ أَحَدٖ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمۡ وَلَٰكِن رَّسُولَ ٱللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ ٱلنَّبِيِّ‍ۧنَۗ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٗا ٤٠

Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and last of the prophets. And ever is Allah, of all things, Knowing. (Al-Ahzab [33]; 40).

وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَءَامَنُواْ بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمۡ كَفَّرَ عَنۡهُمۡ سَيِّ‍َٔاتِهِمۡ وَأَصۡلَحَ بَالَهُمۡ ٢

And those who believe and do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down upon Muhammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He will remove from them their misdeeds and amend their condition. (Muhammad [47]; 2).

Ulin Nuha (أُوْلِى النُّهَى)

In Arabic discussion, the meaning of the phrase "Ulin Nuha" is a rational person (an intelligent person). We can find the word in two verses of the Quran as follows;

كُلُواْ وَٱرۡعَوۡاْ أَنۡعَٰمَكُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّأُوْلِي ٱلنُّهَىٰ ٥٤

Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence. (Ta Ha [20]; 54).

أَفَلَمۡ يَهۡدِ لَهُمۡ كَمۡ أَهۡلَكۡنَا قَبۡلَهُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقُرُونِ يَمۡشُونَ فِي مَسَٰكِنِهِمۡۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّأُوْلِي ٱلنُّهَىٰ ١٢٨

Then, has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings? Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence. (Ta Ha [20]; 128).

Ulil Albab or Ulul Albab (أُوْلُوْ الْأَلْبَابِ / أَوْلِى الْأَلْبَابِ)

In Arabic, the meaning of the phrase "Ulil Albab or Ulul Albab" is a rational person. It's the same as the name above. There are many verses of the Quran that contain these sentences. Some of them are as follows;

وَلَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡقِصَاصِ حَيَوٰةٞ يَٰٓأُوْلِي ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَتَّقُونَ ١٧٩

And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous. (Al-Baqarah [2]; 179).

يُؤۡتِي ٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَمَن يُؤۡتَ ٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ فَقَدۡ أُوتِيَ خَيۡرٗا كَثِيرٗاۗ وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ إِلَّآ أُوْلُواْ ٱلۡأَلۡبَٰبِ ٢٦٩

He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has been given wisdom has certainly been given much good. And none will remember except those of understanding. (Al-Baqarah [2]; 269).
