Hi all readers! In this article I will invite you to know Heaven and Hell. I think most of us already know about both of them. I will explain a little more about the two explanations, just to refresh our memories of both. Heaven is a place to live for people who carry out the command of Allah Ta’ala well while living in the world. Whereas Hell is the place of residence of people who oppose Allah Ta’ala during his life in the world.
I think all religions have concepts about Heaven and Hell. In this article I will not explain all these concepts. Here I will only explain the concept of both in the teachings of Islam.
We can find information about Heaven and Hell in the verses of the Qur’an and some of the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad below;
Allah Ta’ala said;
And certainly, he saw him in another descent At the farthest lote-tree Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to . (An-Najm ; 13-15).
Heaven has 100 (one hundred) levels. The distance for each increase is like the distance between heaven and earth. Prophet Muhammad said;
Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “Indeed, in Heaven there are 100 (one hundred) levels which have been prepared by Allah for those who strive in the way of Allah. The distance between two levels is like the distance between heaven and earth.” (This hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari, 2790).
The highest heaven is Paradise. Prophet Muhammad said;
The Prophet (Muhammad) sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “If you ask Allah, then ask him for Paradise, because Paradise is the broadest and highest Heaven. On it is a throne belonging to a loving Allah. From it emanated the rivers of Heaven.” (Abu Na’im, Shifatu al-Janah, no. 469).
Heaven has 8 (eight) doors. Prophet Muhammad said;
The Prophet (Muhammad) sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “In Heaven there are 8 (eight) doors. Inside is a door called Ar-Rayyaan which cannot be entered except by people who fast.” (The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari, 3257).
The heat of fire in the world is one part of seventy parts of Hell’s Fire. Prophet Muhammad said;
The Prophet (Muhammad) sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “Your fire is part of the 70 (seventy) fire from Hell.” (The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari, 3265, and Imam Muslim, 871).
Believing in Heaven and Hell can be done with three things;
First; Believing without hesitation, that Heaven and Hell really do exist, that Heaven is the place of those who fear, while Hell is the place of unbelievers and hypocrites. Allah Ta’ala said;
(As for) those who disbelieve in Our communications, We shall make them enter fire; so oft as their skins are thoroughly burned, We will change them for other skins, that they may taste the chastisement; surely Allah is Mighty, Wise And (as for) those who believe and do good deeds, We will make them enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them for ever; they shall have therein pure mates, and We shall make them enter a dense shade . (An-Nisaa’ ; 56-57).
Second; Believing that Heaven and Hell are now. Allah said;
And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord; and a Garden, the extensiveness of which is (as) the heavens and the earth, it is prepared for those who guard (against evil). (Ali ‘Imraan ; 133).
But if you do (it) not and never shall you do (it), then be on your guard against the fire of which men and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers. (Al-Baqarah ; 24).
Prophet Muhammad said;
The Prophet (Muhammad) sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “I entered Heaven, then I saw the majority of the inhabitants were indigent people. And I entered into Hell, then I saw the majority of the inhabitants were women.” (This hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari, 3241, and Muslim, 2738).
Third; Believing without hesitation, that Heaven and Hell exist and will not be with anything in them. Allah said;
Allah has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them; that is the great achievement. (At-Taubah ; 89).
(It is) only a delivering (of communications) from Allah and His messages; and whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger surely, he shall have the fire of hell to abide therein for a long time. (Al-Jinn ; 23).
Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said;
Messenger of Allah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “Allah will enter the inhabitants of Heaven into Heaven and the inhabitants of Hell into Hell. Then a caller will stand between them, then he says, “O inhabitants of Heaven, there is no death. O inhabitants of Hell, there is no death. Everyone will be immortal in it.” (This hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari, 6544, and Muslim, 2850).
Actually, there are many more verses of the Qur’an and hadith that explain Heaven and Hell. But I don’t need to mention everything, because some of the data I have mentioned above is enough to know a brief explanation of both in Islamic teachings.
I think that is enough for this article. May be useful!
