Children of the Prophet Muhammad ~ Hi all readers! Prophet Muhammad, as a Prophet and Messenger of Allah, was also an ordinary person. He eats, drinks, works, marries, interacts with others, and so on. Islamic historical data explains, that he was married to several women after his first wife, Khadijah bint Khuailid, died. From this marriage, he had several sons and daughters. As Muslims, we must know that. That’s why I wrote this article. So, you only need to read this article to finish.
Prophet Muhammad’s Children
Before I explain further about the children of the Prophet Muhammad, I want to say that all of his children were born from his marriage to Khadijah bint Khualid, except Ibrahim; Ibrahim was his son from his marriage to Maria bint Shamun al-Qibthiyah. He has no other children from his marriage to his other wives.
By the way, do you know who the Prophet Muhammad’s children were from his marriage to Khadijah bint Khualid?
Before I explain the answer to the question above, you should know that Khadijah bint Khualid is his first wife. She died in Mecca, before he moved to Medina. In other words, all of his children from his marriage to her were born in Mecca. As for Ibrahim, he was the only child born in Medina.
In general, if we examine Islamic historical data, we will find an explanation, that the Prophet Muhammad had two sons and three daughters from his marriage to Khadijah bint Khualid. Historical data narrated by Ibn Abbas explains that the first child born to Khadijah bint Khualid is Qasim, then Zainab, then Abdullah, then Ummu Kalsum, then Fatimah, then Ruqayah. But other historical data explains that the first child she gave birth to was Abdullah, then Zainab, then Ruqayah, then Qasim, then Thahir, then Muthahar, then Tayib, then Muthayab, then Ummu Kalsum, then Fatimah. There are differences in historical data about the number of his children from his marriage to her.
In addition, historical data also differ about who the son and daughter of the Prophet Muhammad is the oldest and who is the youngest (from his marriage to Khadijah bint Khualid). One historical data explains, that his oldest son is Qasim, while the youngest is Abdullah. But other historical data explain the opposite. One historical data explains, that his oldest daughter was Zainab, while the youngest was Ruqayah. But other historical data explain that his oldest daughter was Zainab, while the youngest was Fatimah.
But, apart from differences in historical data about it all, but popular historical data explains that the children of the Prophet Muhammad from his marriage to Khadijah bint Khualid were six people, as explained by historical data that was narrated by Ibn Abbas. In addition, popular historical data also explains that his youngest daughter was Fatima, who was the wife of Ali ibn Abi Talib, who gave birth to all the descendants of the Prophet Muhammad to this day, while his two other daughters, Zainab and Ruqayah, they had both became the wife of Uthman bin Affan. That’s why he (Uthman bin Affan) got the title “Dzu an-Nuraini (the person who has two lights)”.
The son of the Prophet Muhammad who first died was Qasim when he was seventeen months old (in a valid opinion) then Abdullah.
