Grace Center: Cave of Hira’ and First Quran ~ Hi all readers! In this article I will explain about Cave Hira’ and first Qur’an. Cave of Hira’ is a cave above Mount Hira. So, actually “Hira” is the name of a mountain. Place it on the north side of Mecca. There is one big event that took place in cave of Hira’ which will always be remembered by Muslims throughout history, because that is where the Prophet Muhammad got the first revelation from Allah.
In the book “as-Sirah an-Nabawiyyah” written by Ibn Ishaq there is a statement, that when the Prophet Muhammad would be made a prophet by Allah, he saw nothing but signs that came like stars in the presence of the Prophet (about the last third of the night) . Then he would rather be alone in the cave of Hira’.
But what I need to say is that before the Prophet Muhammad was happy to be alone in the cave of Hira, he had felt anxious because of the behavior of the Arabs around him. Their behavior is very far from humanity and religion. Maybe we have heard the story, that many people at that time were burying their daughters because girls were caught unable to give big profits – certainly not everyone did it; there were some people at that time who also realized that what was done by the people at that time was wrong (I would explain it in time, Allah willing).
The incident occurred when the Prophet Muhammad was married to Khadijah bint Khuwaylid. I have explained that in a number of previous articles. She knew what he was doing and why he did it. That’s why she did not object to what her husband did, that she always told some people to bring food and drinks to him.
In the cave of Hira’ Prophet Muhammad also thought about the creation of sky and earth. He thought about many things until he came to a conclusion, that what was done by the majority of the Quraysh was wrong.
When the Prophet Muhammad returned home, he told what he had in mind to Khadijah. He worried that Allah would torture the Quraysh as Allah had tortured the ‘Ad and the Thamud. Khadijah listened to his story very well. She always calmed and comforted him. Then She remembered Waraqah to her, “That Allah will send a Prophet who became the last Prophet. His time is near. Surely I and the scholars of the children of Israel are waiting for him.”
Khadijah bint Khuwaylid said in her heart, “Why was the Prophet not sent in the middle of the Arabs? Why isn’t Muhammad the Prophet? He has a very good and perfect ethic! Indeed he has lived in a holy condition and far from the taints jahili. He never bowed his head to any idol. He also never got involved in the games and sins of his people. He had lived saddened because of it all. He thought about the universe and the God who created the universe!”
In the month of Ramadan, the Prophet Muhammad alone was long enough in cave of Hira’. Khadijah bint Khuwaylid then ordered several people to look for him. But they did not find him in cave of Hira’ and on the road to get there. She is nervous and worried if he is hit by something painful. Then suddenly he came in a shaking condition and said, “Cover me! Cover me!”
Khadijah bint Khuwaylid then rushed to envelop the Prophet Muhammad. She thinks that he is just cold. When he woke up, he told her about what he had seen in cave of Hira’. He told her that the angel Gabriel had come to him to deliver revelations;
“Gabriel said,” Read it! “I said,” I can’t read. “He then embraced me until I felt tight. Then he let me go and said,” Read it! “I said,” I can’t read. ” the second time until I felt tight, then he breathed me and said, “Read it!” I then said, “I can’t read.” He then embraced me for the third time. Then he let me go and said;
اقرأ باسم ربك الذي خلق * خلق الإنسان من علق * اقرأ وربك الأكرم * الذي علم بالقلم * علم الإنسان ما لم يعلم
Read by mentioning the name of your Lord who has created * He has created human from a bloodshed * Read and Lord of the Most Gracious * (Lord) who has taught with the intermediary of al-Qalam * He has taught humans something that he (human) does not understand. (Al-‘Alaq; 1-5).
All readers! That is a brief explanation of cave of Hira’ and first Quran. May be useful! Amen!
