The specific thing is, that day has a very big priority compared to other days. Of course, as Muslims we must know that. That’s why you should read this article to the end!

As usual, before I explain Ashura day and its virtues, I will quote two hadiths and one historical data that is specifically related to our discussion. The two hadiths and one historical data that I mean are as follows;

From Abu Hurairah, from Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he said, “On Ashura day, the Prophets fasted. Fast all of you on that day!” The hadith is narrated by Ibn Abi Syaibah.

From Ibn Abbas, he said, “Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam came in Medina. He found several Jews fasting on Ashura day. He then asked them, “What day is it, that you all are fasting?” They answered, “This is a big day. On that day Allah saved Moses and his people and sank Pharaoh and his people. Moses then fasted on that day as gratitude. We then fasted that day. ” Allah’s Messenger sallallahu alahi wa sallam then said, “We are more entitled and more concerned with Moses than all of you.” The hadith is narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

There is one good person in the past seen in a dream. He was then asked about his condition. He then said, “I have been forgiven for sixty years because of fasting on Ashura day.” Lathaifu al-Ma’arif by Ibn Rajab; 110 -111.

All Readers! There are some important things that we can conclude regarding the two hadiths and one historical data above;

First; the Prophets fasted on Ashura.

Second; in the second hadith it is explained, that Allah saved Moses and his people from the fury of Pharaoh and his people on Ashura day. That’s why Ashura day became a great day for the Jews. They then fasted on that day.

Third; there is one historical data explains, that there is one good person in ancient times has died. He was forgiven for sixty years because he had fasted on Ashura day.
