Allah’s Messengers from Ulul Azmi Group

Allah’s Messengers from Ulul Azmi Group

Hi All! In the previous article, we discussed the difference between the Prophet of Allah and the Messenger of Allah and the way to believe in them. In this article, I will explain the Messenger of Allah from Ulul Azmi group. The meaning of the term “Ulul Azmi” is people who have extraordinary determination and patience. Thus, then we can interpret, that the Messenger of Allah from the Ulul Azmi group are the Envoys who have tremendous determination and patience when they face trials when submitting the minutes.

allahs messengers from ulul azmi group, ulul azmi, allahs messengers, prophet noah, prophet abraham, prophet moses, prophet isa, prophet muhammad,

Information about the existence of Allah’s Envoys from the Ulul Azmi group can be found in the following verse of the Quran;

Therefore, bear up patiently as did the messengers endowed with constancy bear up with patience and do not seek to hasten for them (their doom). On the day that they shall see what they are promised they shall be as if they had not tarried save an hour of the day. A sufficient exposition! Shall then any be destroyed save the transgressing people? (Al-Ahqaaf [46]; 35).

There are differences of opinion among Muslim scholars about the number of Allah’s Messenger from the Ulul Azmi group. Ibn Zaid said that all of Allah’s messengers were included in the Ulul Azmi category, because they all had the determination, patience, opinions and perfection of extraordinary reason. But there are also Muslim scholars who argue, I agree with this opinion, that the number of Allah’s Messenger included in the Ulul Azmi category there are five people; Noah, Abraham, Moses, Isa, and Muhammad. This opinion is Ibn Abbas. The names of the five people have also been mentioned at once in the verse of the Qur'an;

And when We made a covenant with the prophets and with you, and with Nuh and Ibrahim and Musa and Isa, son of Marium, and We made with them a strong covenant.  (Al-Ahzaab [33]; 7).

He has made plain to you of the religion what He enjoined upon Nuh and that which We have revealed to you and that which We enjoined upon Ibrahim and Musa and Isa that keep to obedience and be not divided therein; hard to the unbelievers is that which you call them to; Allah chooses for Himself whom He pleases, and guides to Himself him who turns (to Him), frequently. (Asy-Syuraa [42]; 13).

I personally agree that the number of Allah’s Messenger from the Ulul Azmi group is five people. That is because in addition to their names mentioned in the two verses of the al-Qur’an above simultaneously, also because there is an opinion (Abu Hurairah’s opinion) which says that, there are only five people from the descendants of Adam who fall into the category of people- chosen person. The five people are none other than Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and the prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Of the five people, the most noble person is the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. We can find this information in the hadith below;

انا سيد ولد أدم يوم القيامة وأول من ينشق عنه القبر وأول شافع وأول مشفع

I am the leader of the son of Adam on the Day of Judgment, the first to rise from the grave, the first to give intercession and the first to be given the right to give intercession.

I think we already know the reason why the five Messenger of Allah is included in the Ulul category ‘Azmi I think many of us know about it. But to just recall, I will explain briefly.

Prophet Noah

Prophet Noah entered the category of Allah’s Messenger who entered the Ulul Azmi category because his patience spread the true teachings of religion. All data shows that almost a thousand years of his age he used to bring his people back into the true teachings of religion. But the person who trusted him was no more than two hundred people. The rest are those who oppose it and do not believe the truth of the teachings that they carry. Worse yet, among those who opposed were his wife and child. Just imagine, for almost a thousand years he could only have followers of no more than two queens, even his children and wife opposed him!

Prophet Abraham

Since childhood, Prophet Abraham had a trial. When he was a baby, he had to be put into a cave. That’s because king Namrud ordered his troops to kill all male babies. After adulthood he faced a king and an idolatrous society. In fact, he had to accept severe torture, was burned alive because he was accused of destroying the idols they worshiped.

Prophet Abraham also received an examination from Allah Ta’ala in the form of an order to slaughter his own young child, Ismail. He carried out Allah’s commands with all his heart, even though in the end the slain was a sheep. There are many more reasons why he was included in the Ulul Azmi category.

Prophet Moses

Prophet Moses was born during the reign of King Pharaoh. Before he was born, Pharaoh ordered his troops to kill a baby boy from the Children of Israel. In the midst of such conditions Allah Ta’ala inspire his mother to wash it on the Nile. After all this time he drifted over the Nile, he was finally found by Asiah, the wife of Pharaoh. In other words, since she was a baby she had separated from her mother.

When living in the palace, the small Prophet Moses did not want to drink milk from other women. Asiah, wife of Pharaoh, then looked for a woman who could breastfeed him. With Allah’s will, his biological mother was chosen to breastfeed him.

After being approved of adulthood, Prophet Moses received knowledge from Allah. Allah appointed him a Prophet and Apostle. After a while he got word, that Pharaoh would do bad things done. it happened because he reconciled two people who were fighting, one from the Israelites and one other from the qibthi nation, there was one people killed by him.

Moses left the Pharaoh’s palace to run away without knowing where he should go. In the midst of his flight he met the Prophet Syu’aib and married one of his two daughters. After years of living on the run, in the end he returned to meet Pharaoh and invited him to return to the right path. Pharaoh grew furious over the invitation. Pharaoh and his army chased after Moses until finally they were drowned by Allah on the red sea floor. Prophet Moses and his followers survived.

Prophet Isa

There are many things that make Prophet Isa into the Ulul Azmi grup. Among them is because he is able to live in poor conditions. The worthy factor is because of the betrayal made by his student named Judas Iscariot, slander and rejection of his people, the Children of Israel. In fact, he was almost killed, and crucified. But, in the end, the person killed was his student who betrayed him. He was lifted up to heaven by Allah Ta’ala.

Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam

Many sad things from the life story of Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Since he was still in the womb, his mother, his father has died. Shortly after he, his mother passed away. Not long after that his grandfather died. After he entered adulthood, he had to trade to develop a family economy, and so on.

But the biggest challenge that the Prophet Muhammad had to accept was when he was appointed as a Prophet and Messenger of Allah. He must accept rejection even challenges from many parties, including his own uncle, Abu Lahab. Many Quraisy officials boycotted Banu Hashim because he invited them to embrace Islam. the boycott was carried out by breaking trade relations and other social relations. Besides that, there are still many more difficulties that he faced when delivering the Islamic message.

All readers! That is a brief explanation of Allah’s Messengers from Ulul Azmi group. Hopefully we can imitate their patience in living life. Amen!

I think that is enough for this article. May be useful! Amen!
