Hi, dear readers! Do you want to know what Istighfar is? Are you curious about the verses in the Quran that explain Istighfar? Would you like to learn about the Hadiths that describe Istighfar? Are you interested in the miracles of Istighfar? If your answer is "Yes," then congratulations! You are reading the right article. In this article, I will explain it all, so keep reading!

Specifically, there are four important aspects of the miracles of Istighfar that I will discuss. These four important points are as follows:

What Is Istighfar?

One of the essential things we should understand about Istighfar is its meaning. In general, Istighfar consists of specific phrases recited with the intention of asking Allah for forgiveness. It is a form of dhikr (remembrance) and prayer that all Muslims should engage in. I say this because by reciting Istighfar, we can cleanse ourselves of sins.

There are actually many examples of Istighfar phrases. One of the shortest and most common is (I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Most Great).

The Quran on the Miracles of Istighfar

There are actually many verses in the Quran that describe the miracles of Istighfar. Of course, I will not explain all of them here. In this article, I will focus on two. The two Quranic verses I am referring to are as follows:

"So be patient, for indeed, the promise of Allah is true. And seek forgiveness for your sins and exalt your Lord with praise in the evening and morning." (Al-Mumin: 55)

"So know that there is no deity except Allah, and ask forgiveness for your sins and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows your movements and your resting places." (Muhammad: 19)

Hadith on the Miracles of Istighfar

Just as there are many Quranic verses explaining Istighfar, there are also numerous Hadiths that highlight its importance. I won't go into detail about all of them here. Instead, I will mention two key Hadiths:

From Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (Prophet Muhammad), peace and blessings be upon him, say, ‘By Allah, I ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day.'"

From Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him), he said, "I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say, ‘Glad tidings to the one who finds abundant Istighfar in his record.'"

Some Examples of the Miracles of Istighfar

Before I explain some examples of the miracles of Istighfar, I want to clarify that by "miracle of Istighfar," I mean the power of Istighfar as a prayer and dhikr (remembrance of Allah) that can save a person from danger and hardship by Allah's permission. This is what I mean by the miracle of Istighfar.

When discussing the miracles of Istighfar, we can actually find many examples. However, I will not explain all of them in this article. Here, I will describe just two examples. The two examples I am referring to are as follows:

Sufyan said, "I once met Muhammad bin Ja'far. He said, 'If you are frequently troubled, often recite لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ (there is no power and strength except by Allah). If you feel a lack of sustenance, recite Istighfar frequently. And if you are blessed with many favors, praise Allah often.'"

Ibn Sabih said, "A man once complained to Hasan al-Basri about drought, and Hasan told him to seek forgiveness from Allah (recite Istighfar). Another man complained to him about poverty, and Hasan again said, 'Seek forgiveness from Allah.' Yet another asked him to pray for children, and Hasan told him, 'Seek forgiveness from Allah.' And a fourth man complained about the dryness of his orchard, to which Hasan responded, 'Seek forgiveness from Allah.' We asked Hasan why he gave the same advice for different problems. He answered, 'I did not say this from my own understanding. Indeed, Allah the Almighty says in Surah Nuh: "Then I said, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord. Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving. [10] He will send rain to you in abundance. [11] He will increase your wealth and children, and provide you with gardens and rivers.'" (Nuh: 10-12)"

Dear readers, if we have understood the two examples of the miracles of Istighfar mentioned above, we can conclude the following:

  1. Istighfar is a prayer to cleanse sins.
  2. Istighfar is a supplication and remembrance that can increase sustenance.
  3. Istighfar is a means of making our work easier.
  4. Istighfar is a prayer and remembrance that can bless us with children.

Dear readers, this is a brief explanation of the miracles of Istighfar. Do you understand? If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I think that's all for this article. May it be useful. Ameen!

See you again in the next article!

After reading this enlightening article on Istighfar, I feel deeply moved and grateful for the clarity it has provided. As a new Muslim, understanding the significance of Istighfar has truly opened my eyes to the power of seeking forgiveness from Allah. The article beautifully explains the concept, offering a simple yet profound explanation of what Istighfar is, supported by Quranic verses and Hadiths. The miracles of Istighfar mentioned in the article are particularly inspiring. Knowing that Istighfar can not only cleanse us from our sins but also bring about blessings such as increased sustenance, ease in life, and even children is truly powerful. The examples shared from the lives of early Muslims, like Hasan al-Basri, show just how transformative Istighfar can be in overcoming various challenges, from drought to poverty.

What I also appreciate is how the article is structured—it is easy to read and understand, especially for someone like me who is still learning. The Quranic verses and Hadiths quoted here are not just academic references, but practical teachings we can apply in our daily lives. The repetition of seeking forgiveness is not merely a ritual but a gateway to spiritual and material blessings.

I want to thank the author for such a well-researched and insightful piece. This article not only deepens my understanding of Istighfar but also strengthens my resolve to incorporate it into my daily routine. I encourage other new Muslims or anyone seeking to strengthen their connection with Allah to read this article. May Allah bless the writer and all those who read it!
