The Verses of Surah Al-Kafirun

The verses of Surah Al-Kafirun are as follows:

Say, "O disbelievers! [1] I do not worship what you worship [2] Nor do you worship what I worship [3] Nor will I ever worship what you worship [4] Nor will you ever worship what I worship [5] To you be your religion, and to me, mine." (Al-Kafirun [109]; 1-6).

The Meaning of Surah Al-Kafirun

Say, O Allah's most noble Messenger!" This is a command directed to the Prophet Muhammad.

(يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ) — It is reported that Walid bin Mughirah, Ash bin Wail, Aswad bin Abdul Muttalib, and Umaiyah bin Khalaf once said to the Prophet Muhammad: "O Muhammad, come! Let us worship your Lord for some time, and you worship our gods for some time, so that peace can be established between us, and our hostility may disappear. If your way is right, we will follow it, and if our way is right, you will follow it." In response, Allah revealed Surah Al-Kafirun. Thus, this incident was the cause of the revelation of this surah.

Meaning: "I will not worship the idols you worship."

Meaning: "Nor will you worship the God I worship."

Meaning: "I have never worshiped the idols you worshiped, so how could I worship them now?"

Meaning: "Nor will you ever worship the God I worship."

Meaning: "You have your religion and its teachings, and you worship your gods according to your belief."

Meaning: "And I have my religion and worship my God according to my teachings."
