Beautiful Islamic Baby Girl Names: Meanings and Significance
Beautiful Islamic Baby Girl Names ~ Hi all readers! Are you looking for an Islamic baby girl name? Congratulations! You're reading the right article. In this piece, I will explain some Islamic baby girl names and their meanings. For many parents, choosing the best name for their child can sometimes be difficult. For this reason, some couples seek advice from those who have more knowledge about it. The rationale is simple: a name is a prayer. Therefore, it is essential for someone to give a good name to their children, rather than just any name.
Before I explain the Islamic baby girl names, I want to clarify that the term "Islamic names" does not always refer to names derived from Arabic. While many Arabic names are commonly used by Muslims for their children, what is important is that we ensure the name has a very good meaning. Additionally, we must also ensure that the name does not carry a negative history in our religion.
Islamic Baby Girl Names and Their Meanings
Here are some examples of Islamic names for baby girls that have positive meanings:
Najwa (نَجْوَى)
Before explaining the meaning of the word Najwa, I want to mention that this word appears in several verses of the Quran, as shown below:
نَّحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يَسۡتَمِعُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِذۡ يَسۡتَمِعُونَ إِلَيۡكَ وَإِذۡ هُمۡ نَجۡوَىٰٓ إِذۡ يَقُولُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلٗا مَّسۡحُورًا ٤٧
We are most knowledgeable of how they listen to it when they listen to you and [of] when they are in private conversations, when the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic." (Al-Isra [17]; 47).
فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَهُم بَيۡنَهُمۡ وَأَسَرُّواْ ٱلنَّجۡوَىٰ ٦٢
So, they disputed over their affair among themselves and concealed their private conversation. (Ta-Ha [20]; 62).

The meaning of the word Najwa is "whisper." Thus, if Najwa is used as a name for a girl, it implies a woman who whispers or someone who whispers. However, the word has many meanings. When used as a name for a baby girl, it connotes a woman who possesses beauty, gentleness, and very good character.
Aina (اْلَعْيَناءُ)
Do you believe in Heaven? In Heaven, there are many angels named Aina. Therefore, if you give the name "Aina" to your daughter, it signifies your hope that she embodies obedience to God, beauty, tenderness, and so forth, just like the angels in Heaven.
Salsabila or Salsabel (سَلْسَبِيْلًا)
The meaning of the word Salsabila or Salsabel is "gentle." We can also find this word in the Quran:
عَيۡنٗا فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلۡسَبِيلٗا ١٨
[From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabel. (Al-Insan [76; 18]).
So, if you name your daughter "Salsabila" or "Salsabel," it implies your hope that she will have a soft heart and be kind to many people.
Qanita (قَانِتَةٌ)
The meaning of the word Qanita is "a devout woman." This word can be found in the Quran:
Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what God would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], force them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand. (An-Nisa [4]; 34).
Naura al-Qanita (نَوْرَةٌ اْلَقانِتَةُ)
The meaning of the word Naura (Nura or Nur) is "light." Therefore, if you choose "Naura al-Qanita" as a name for your daughter, it means "Light of the Obedient Woman."
Tania al-Qanita (ثَانِيَةٌ اْلَقانِتَةٌ)
The meaning of the word Tania or Tsania is "the second." This is perfect for naming a second daughter. So, if you choose "Tania al-Qanita" as your daughter's name, it means "Obedient Second Daughter."
Amina (آمِنَةٌ)
The meaning of the word Amina is "a devout woman." This name is also that of the Prophet Muhammad's mother. Therefore, if you name your daughter Amina, it signifies your hope that she will be an obedient, good, and fortunate woman, just like the mother of the Prophet Muhammad.
