How Many Years did Quran was Revealed to Prophet Muhammad? Read This!
How Many Years Was the Quran Revealed to Prophet Muhammad? ~ Hi, all readers! I think we all know that the Quran was not revealed to Prophet Muhammad at once. It took a significant amount of time to bring the Quran to him. One of the goals was to make it easier for him to understand, memorize, and teach it to the Muslims of that time. One important question we must answer is how many years the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. As Muslims, we should know this. That's why I wrote this article. So, please read it until the end!
How Many Years Was the Quran Revealed to Prophet Muhammad?
Before I explain how many years the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad, I want to clarify that the Quran was sent to him from the time he became the Messenger of Allah until just before his death. However, Muslim historians differ on the exact number of years the Quran was revealed to him.

This difference arises because historians have varying opinions about how long Prophet Muhammad remained in Mecca after becoming the Messenger of Allah and before migrating to Medina. Estimates range from ten years to thirteen years, and even up to fifteen years. As for his time in Medina, historians unanimously agree that he stayed there for ten years.
Now that we understand there are differing opinions on how long the Prophet Muhammad lived in Mecca, from the time he became the Messenger of Allah until he moved to Medina, we can draw an initial conclusion: Muslim historians also disagree on the number of years the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
If we take the view that he lived in Mecca for ten years, then adding the ten years in Medina gives us a total of twenty years for the revelation of the Quran.

If we consider the opinion that the Prophet Muhammad lived in Mecca for thirteen years, then adding those thirteen years to the ten years in Medina results in twenty-three years of revelation.
If we follow the opinion that he lived in Mecca for fifteen years, then adding those fifteen years to the ten years in Medina concludes that the Quran was revealed to him for a total of twenty-five years.
One other important point I want to mention regarding how many years the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad is that among the three opinions, the most widely accepted view is that the Quran was revealed to him over a period of twenty-three years.
