Hadith Qudsi About Obedience to Allah

The First Hadith Qudsi About Obedience to Allah

Allah Azza wa Jalla said, "All of you must remember Me by obeying Me; then I will remember you with My forgiveness. Whoever remembers Me while obeying Me, I will surely remember him with My forgiveness. Whoever remembers Me while acting against Me, I will certainly remember him with My anger."

Dear readers! The first hadith Qudsi above explains that we must remember Allah. This is the general meaning. However, it is important to understand that remembering Allah must be done in a good way, such as through dhikr, prayer, fasting, giving alms, reading books, and so forth. If we do this, then Allah will remember us with His forgiveness. The point is, if we remember Allah in a good way, then Allah will forgive us.

Additionally, we must understand that remembering Allah must not be done in the wrong way, such as through stealing, lying, slandering, and so forth. Why is that? Because if we engage in such actions, Allah will remember us with His anger. The takeaway is, if we remember Allah incorrectly, Allah will be displeased with us.

The Second Hadith Qudsi About Obedience to Allah

Allah Taala said, "O son of Adam! If you remember Me, you will thank Me. If you forget Me, you will betray Me."

The general meaning of the second hadith Qudsi above is that if we remember Allah, it signifies our gratitude towards Him. Conversely, if we forget Allah, it indicates our betrayal of Him. This is a very clear command: we must remember Allah.
